Your purchase helps Pearl Harbor Survivors, World War II veterans, and their families attend this event.
This event will honor the World War II veterans of the 100th Infantry Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team, Military Intelligence Service and 1399th Engineer Construction Battalion. Those units were made up primarily of Americans of Japanese ancestry. Hundreds of them were among the Americans who answered the call to arms on Oahu on December 7, 1941. Yet the Pearl Harbor attack triggered racial hysteria against Japanese Americans and the forcible evacuation and imprisonment of thousands. The AJA soldiers of the 100th, 442nd, MIS and 1399th answered with unsurpassed service and sacrifice. After the war, they helped change Hawaii and America.
The 75th Commemoration is the result of support from Governor David Ige and the Pearl Harbor Historic Sites partners, which include World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument - National Park Service, the home of the USS Arizona Memorial, and Pacific Historic Parks; USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park; Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor; and the Battleship Missouri Memorial.
